It's no particular innovation to get a free gift when you buy a newspaper. A voucher for a can of coke, maybe, or a cinema ticket.
Today's Daily News here in New York has an interesting take on the idea. Buy the paper and get a free prostate cancer test. I jest not.
What next? Your very own free dentist in a box of cornflakes? I hope the NHS bosses in the UK are taking note.
At least they're trying to save lives.
Look what story they buried further back:
"Unseen Peril at the Beach"
"They are the nearly undetectable killers lurking in the shallows off seemingly peaceful beaches. And the more you struggle against them, the more likely you are to fall prey to their turbulent power.
"They are rip currents..."
